What is a coach?#How to find a coach

A coach is a professional person you hire to teach and train you into a specific skill set, generally with a specific outcome in mind.  Coaches could be for business skills, life coaching and life skills, any number of sports disciplines such as athletics, swimming or football, or in more interpersonal areas such as relationship coaching, public speaking and self-esteem.  If you were injured in an accident or had a stroke, you may need a speech therapist to coach you back into speaking, or a physiotherapist to teach you to walk again.  These are also coaches.  The coach teaches you the skills and strategies you need, and then trains you in their use and application.  Learning how to find a coach is fundamental to progress through life.

What is the benefit of having a coach?

If you identify a specific need or lack in your life in the areas of skills and abilities, a coach can help you overcome that lack of skills.  It may be that you only need a coach for a couple of sessions and you quickly learn the skill, master it and integrate it into your life.  Other types of coaching, such as martial arts may continue for years, right up through all the different skill levels to the highest level.  It’s possible that in a situation like this, you may change coaches on each level or at least a few times throughout the process.  Knowing how to find a coach for each level of expertise will be critical for you!

How will you know if your coach is a good coach?

Depending on the specific coaching you require there may be professional institutions for coaching, with registered members for you to choose from, who are guided by a code of conduct.  However, even that doesn’t fully protect you.  There is the matter of personality matching, because you will work very closely with your coach and you need to respect each other.  The coach needs to have the type of skills you want to learn – it’s not good enough that they have the qualification; they must want to work in the way that suits you.  For example, there are many different martial arts disciplines and within each one, there are different styles.  You have to take responsibility for choosing the coach that suits you, because they can only teach you what they know.  It’s more than just learning how to find a coach though.

What is the best way to learn how to find a coach who is exactly right for you? #How to find a coach

There’s more to being coached than just finding the coach.  You need to prepare for it too.  The better the quality of question you ask, the better your answers can be.  The same with coaching.  The better you know and understand yourself and your needs, the better equipped you are to choose your coaching solution, once you know how to find a coach who is right for you and your specific needs, at this time.

The best way to achieve this is through a structured program that systematically:

  • creates awareness of your issues and limitations
  • teaches you how to correct or improve them
  • teaches you how to source a coach for the specific needs you have and to work with them
  • Eliminates limiting fears, phobias and beliefs
  • teaches you to set appropriate goals in all areas of your life and then how to achieve them
  • consolidates your new awareness and better habits into unconscious success behaviours
  • ensures your financial situation supports your new goals
  • and gives you the tools to maintain the success you achieve for life.

Life Change 90 is such a program.  It is a powerful, 90 day program with minutes of morning and evening activities that firstly set up your day with awareness of and habits for success, then reviews and consolidates your successes each evening.

Over three months you achieve heightened awareness of any issues and limitations facing you and standing in your way of achieving your goals.  You will learn strategies, solutions and antidotes to those issues, and replace them with habits of success that will become part of your subconscious programming.  This programming automatically sets you up for success, and being embedded subconsciously as success habits gives you a lifelong program of continued consolidation of your successes.
